Austin Weekend

It had been 4 years since our last shopping excursion in San Marcos at the outlet malls.
I have memories of sweating profusely in 100 degree weather at that outlet, on the drive to San Antonio to visit my grandmother. I remember the discovery of that first Coach outlet years ago.
We loved it because it was a break on the monotonous Hwy 35, and hated it because it was, well, an outlet mall.
Eric and I had good memories of the pottery barn outlet, so we borrowed the suburban from obliging parents, trekked to Austin, spent the night downtown, spent one day shopping (bought a chair and two pairs of shoes) and then drove back to Dallas the next day by way of my Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Jacque's farmer's market: Bastrop Producers Market.
Baby did his very very best. Poor little man- doesn't really sleep in the car, then confined to a hotel crib, then forced to outlet shop! What cruelty is life! We experienced laying about in the silent dark in our hotel room after baby's bedtime of 7 PM. The next night we ate some Mexican food in the hall leaning up against our door.
Needless to say, this was my first venture to somewhere unfamiliar (that being a hotel in Austin) in a year, so I was thrilled with the view of Austin from the hotel and wishing we could have eaten at an actual restaurant for dinner those nights. At any rate, Hal was a trooper and even at hour 6 in the Bjorn being dragged around the Banana Republic outlet, could give smiles and sweet baby noises.
Jimmy and Jacque have an amazing market- a new structure they built right off Hwy 71, with a pond on the property and a commercial kitchen inside. We bought a handmade bedside table for Hal's room from their market, along with chocolatey things and delicious pickled okra and carrots. As always, they were super busy but indulged our hanging out for awhile and loved meeting Hal for the first time.

Don't mind if I do.

Another view- beautiful sun that day!
